    As part of a small team, the Additive Manufacturing Machine Operator will operate, setup, and maintain multiple additive manufacturing systems to support Blue Origin’s launch vehicle programs. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight.


    The Machine Operator position serves as an essential role in the AM dept. The maintaining of the additive and the supporting machinery is vital for our production AM Ecosystem. It will aid in consistent build results as well as machine uptime. The Machine Operator position is very hands on and often offers insight to daily machine functions not typically witnessed by Part Pre Processing I.E.’s and management.


    Key Responsibilities:

    • Operate, maintain and improve additive manufacturing machines follow a standardized workflow that maximizes part quality, machine up-time and production throughput
    • Meeting both quality and schedule expectations
    • Track related consumable supplies and alert Engineer if additional supplies required (procurement and maintenance of powders, hand tooling, build plates, process gas, filters, etc.)
    • Follow standardized file systems, traceability documentation for all machine related task
    • Change machine materials and clean out machine when required
    • Quickly identify part defects as the builds are removed from the machine and report said defects to Part Pre Processing IE’s and management. Also document in ITS.
    • Remove powder from parts before post processing begins.
    • Set up machines for next builds using the Blue’s standardized method and checklist.


    • An attitude of world-class quality, attention to detail, and dedication
    • Demonstrated track record of resourcefulness from their previous assignments   
    • 1-3 years of hands on build experience (spacecraft, airplanes, cars/trucks, boats)
    • Experienced in multi-tasking and cross training into new roles.
    • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.


    • Training or experience working with metal additive manufacturing machines
    • Experience in an R&D environment, preferably in aerospace, medical devices, or other engineered products
    • Experience in a small company and/or startup environment
