  • Overview

    As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will support design teams, develop NDT processes, interpret NDT results, and procure inspection equipment that support launch vehicle programs. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight.

    Responsibilities

    • Support design teams to maximize inspection of hardware including composite structures, Friction Stir Welds (FSW), GTAW weldments and Thermal Protection Systems
    • Review and approve drawings to identify correct NDT method is applied
    • Develop inspection techniques for Ultrasonic Test, Eddy Current, Radiography, Thermography and assist with interpretation of inspection results
    • Create robotic inspection scan plan/path, for data acquisition in a 3D software environment.
    • Review/Approve supplier inspection techniques
    • Develop and qualify novel NDT methods for atypical inspections
    • Maintain all applicable inspection records
    • Develop requirements, write bid specifications and procure NDT equipment for in-house inspections.
    • Assist with development and maintenance of company NDT Plan, including training Level I and II inspectors per NAS 410 or equivalent

    Qualifications

    • Master’s degree in engineering and/or equivalent experience as an NDT engineer
    • Level III in UT (Conventional and PAUT)
    • Level III or substantive experience in Eddy Current, Radiography and Thermography inspection
    • 15-20 years’ NDT experience in a manufacturing and/or R&D environment
    • Experience in Radiography
    • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

    Desired

    • Third party IRRSP certification
    • Experience in low-mid rate production environment, preferably in aerospace
    • Knowledge of manufacturing processes including casting, welding, additive manufacturing and composites fabrication
    • Experience in a small company and/or startup environment
