    As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will develop and execute verification strategies for avionics embedded controller hardware used to operate rocket engines. You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of engine build, test, operation, and vehicle integration. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight.


    • Develop and execute verification strategies for avionics embedded controller hardware (boards and integrated assemblies that interact with sensors and actuators) including functional testing, acceptance testing and qualification testing of assembled units.
    • Develop test instrumentation and automated test equipment for Hardware-in-the-Loop labs, electronic hardware development, manufacturing, and production 
    • Drive Design-for-Test (DFT) features of avionics controller hardware
      Support electronic hardware development process across entire life-cycle including concept, requirements, design (layout, schematic & CAD) and test definition and reviews.
    • Support and contribute to development of hardware test automation software tools and infrastructure.
    • Support embedded controller risk analyses, failure modes effects and criticality analyses (FMECA), design for test/manufacture/cost (DFx), and root-cause analysis of test discrepancies.
    • Participate in relevant program level hardware development to increase product reliability and test coverage, including influencing avionics development process improvements.
    • Support rocket engine ground and flight test


    • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related field with 10+ years of direct experience in electronics hardware test and automation
    • Direct hands-on experience testing and debugging custom and COTS electronic hardware at board, assembly and system levels; including product functional, acceptance and environmental qualification testing.
    • Direct hands-on experience with electronic hardware instrumentation (DMMs, DAQ, power supplies, oscilloscopes, etc) and other special test equipment used to test electronic assemblies.
    • Proficiency with Python, Linux shell scripting; C/C++ and related software development tools for unit testing and automation; familiarity with continuous integration verification approaches.
    • Proficiency with use of Cadence OrCAD / Allegro (or similar tools) for custom board development, and Matlab / Simulink / SPICE for system and circuit modeling and analysis.
    • Highly organized team player with excellent technical communication skills (written and verbal)
    • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.


    • Graduate degree in related engineering or technical field with 7+ years of direct experience in electronics hardware test and automation
    • Direct hands-on experience developing unit test and measurement hardware; including automation and continuous integration verification approaches.
    • Proficiency with avionics digital communication interfaces (DIO, JTAG, I2C, SPI, CAN, RS-422/485, etc) and analog interfaces to sensors and actuators (accelerometers, RTDs, TCs, LVDTs, etc).
    • Exposure to verification of safety and mission critical aerospace flight hardware compliant with DO-254.
    • Exposure to qualifying flight hardware to meet radiation and other extreme space environments.
