  • Overview

    As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will perform day to day tactical purchasing functions for various spaceflight systems. You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of supplier communications, product pricing, quality, and build schedule. You should demonstrate strong business acumen, written and verbal communication skills as well as adept problem solving ability. Ability to exercise sound judgement in leveraging and implementing sourcing and procurement activities, including recommending alternative solutions that meet program business priorities is required. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight.

    Responsibilities

    • Works closely with supplier management and program engineering teams to establish and manage the supply base for complex fluid controls, pneumatics, and mechanical/hydraulic systems.
    • Manages the RFx process, reviews proposals, conducts supplier negotiations, and recommends supplier selection.
    • Ensures the proper flow-down of quality and customer requirements to suppliers and manages adherence to those requirements throughout the procurement process.
    • Enters purchase orders in procurement system; monitors order progress at supplier; expediting supplier as necessary to meet or improve delivery timing, approves payment, and maintains necessary records.
    • Supports the evaluation, qualification, and onboarding of new suppliers.
    • Engages with supplier management and the program team to identify and implement innovative supply chain strategies in support of program requirements.
    • Conducts or participates in supplier business reviews, initiating supplier corrective action requests, and facilitating supplier performance actions.
    • Coordinates delivery of goods and services to support R&D, Production, and Flight Operations efforts.
    • Resolves discrepancies related to purchasing, delivery, receiving, accounts payable invoices, and payment to the supplier
    • May occasionally perform or lead special projects; Perform other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    • Five-ten years procurement experience in a manufacturing or research and development environment.
    • Experience with production and testing of fluid controls, pneumatics, and hydraulic systems, including valves, actuators, or motors.
    • Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electromechanical systems.
    • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field.
    • Ability to work in a fast paced and changing environment to accomplish goals while managing multiple tasks.
    • Strong skills in Microsoft Outlook and Windows programs (Excel, Word, Powerpoint)
    • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams, and independently.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Exceptional organizational and analytical skills.
    • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

    Desired

    • Research and development procurement experience in a collaborative, fast paced, team environment
    • Experience with aerospace defense industry products preferred
    • Experience with AS9100, ISO9001 supply base requirements
    • Experience with FAR/DFAR requirements and commercial programs
    • Experience with Deltek/Costpoint procurement system and JIRA Atlassian software
    • APICS, CPM, CSCP certification or equivalent
