  • Overview

    As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will support the design, development and fabrication of space launch vehicles and components to support human spaceflight programs. This is a hands-on position that requires strong communication, organization, planning, and project management skills. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight.

    Responsibilities

    • Manage inventory levels for all product lines to ensure in-stock and inventory levels are in line with targets for all sku’s 
      • Ensure lead times are aligned to enable an optimal flow of inventory into the warehouse and production plan 
      • Analyze current internal processes, including the ERP system, with the goal of improving overall service levels, and inventory accuracy
      • Be a very active participant in the development of the Operating Planning processes. 
        Implement best in class or world class cycle counting and physical inventory practices
      • Educate and train the staff in these new processes as well as the S&OP process 
        Manage and be accountable for the accuracy of the inventory; interact with multiple departments, including finance, operations, production, and supply chain to ensure inventory accuracy and smooth procedural flow 
      • Oversee cycle counting process in relation to the raw material and finished goods 
        Assist in the development of levels to which the company purchases raw materials 
      • Participate and/or lead any cross-functional inventory related projects 
      • Assist in the development of the KPI s for the department from which s/he will be measured 
      • Build, develop and maintain data models, reporting system, analysis techniques to discover insights that will guide strategic decisions 
      • Develop and implement quality controls and standards to work towards inventory optimization and improvement of metrics 
      • Perform system maintenance and maintain master data within planning area
    • Support and create a professional organization that has the right skills, development path and culture in support of all business goals and objectives.
    • Manage relevant assigned projects with responsibility for project planning, development, and change management, input to budget development and updating, clearly defining assigned project deliverables to the Operations Manager, Coordinate assigned project, daily business relationships and expectations in conjunction with overall Operations deliverables.
    • Create a team that focuses on waste reduction and ultimately Lead Time reduction in order to be more responsive to customer demands.
    • Provide day-to-day direction to assigned reports to ensure all daily business deliverables and tasks are completed in accordance with Operations KPI structure.
    • Monitor and react to key performance indicators and anticipate issues prior to escalation.
    • Develop and maintain thorough understanding of the facility, its processes and condition.
    • Create a ‘center of excellence’ ideology within inventory through perfect visualization and 5S standards.
    • Develop and follow a clear plan to bring all personnel to the expected skill levels necessary to operate the business at the targets set.
    • Work with the Managers within Operations to support and provide input into the Strategy, Master Schedules and Plans in order for Operations to achieve its goals.
    • Support and develop the Production team to focus on the right projects, deliver in a timely manner and ultimately benefit the overall business goals.
    • Consider and lead key activities within the daily, short, mid and long term growth of the business.
    • Provide strong leadership and support within the organization to always consider problem solving to ‘Root Cause’, ensuring that we eliminate repeat issues.
    • Support and encourage inventory employees to investigate and identify new ideas to foster the spirit of Kaizen and lean.
    • Attend, support and contribute to all relevant operations business reviews. Develop your team to address the issues raised in a positive and timely manner.
    • Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment as necessary.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor Degree (Supply Chain, Business, Operation)
    • Cost Point ERP and/or similar ERP knowledge 
    • 5 or more years of Operations experience (Manufacturing, Material Management and/or Engineering)
    • 3 or more years in a Leadership Role responsible for Project Cost & Schedule Performance
    • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present Blue Origin to our customers in both written and personal meeting scenarios
    • Logical thinking and analytical
    • The ability to ensure that the resources and risks are effectively managed
    • Must have a flexible approach to the role
    • The ability to work on own initiative and under pressure
    • Experience working in a fast moving environment and be able to demonstrate good time management and organizational skills
    • Ability to represent the company internally and externally in a highly professional and credible manner
    • Able to work full time schedule, overtime, on-call nights, weekends, and holidays
    • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

    Desired

    • 7 or more years of Operations experience (Manufacturing, Material Management and/or Engineering)
    • 5 or more years in a Leadership Role responsible for Technical Products, Project Cost & Schedule Performance
    • Flexible to work varied shifts, overtime, weekends.
    • Based upon job duties, may need to work in various areas that may cause exposure to fumes, dust, toxic or caustic chemicals (well below OSHA and exposure guidelines), outdoor weather, moving mechanical parts and/or be part of a hearing conservation program due to noise levels around certain equipment.
    • Experience with ERP systems
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
