    As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will direct the development and integration of Blue Origin’s enterprise level security strategies, vision and architecture to effectively protect company information, data, personnel, facilities and assets across all sites and programs. The CSO will direct the Facilities Security, Industrial Security, and Governance/compliance teams and work closely with the Information Security and Cybersecurity teams to protect company information and data.  A key element of this role is developing security strategies in collaboration with executive leadership, and training employees to effectively implement best practices. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and attention to detail to further the cause of safe, and repeatable spaceflight.


    • Direct and develop Security roadmaps and strategies to effectively manage risk, respond to incidents, maintain continuity of operations, and safeguard the organization
    • Direct the development and implementation of security policies, processes, and procedures for all Blue Origin sites and programs
    • Develop and deploy a world class security awareness culture
    • Ensure compliance with local, national, and international regulatory environments (i.e. privacy, data protection, and environmental, health, and safety)
    • Develop and deploy state-of-the-art technology solutions and innovative security management techniques to safeguard the organization’s personnel and assets, including intellectual property and trade secrets
    • Develop effective relationships with high-level officials in law enforcement (incl. international counterparts) to include in-country security (and international security agencies), intelligence, and other relevant governmental functions as well as private sector counterparts (worldwide)
    • Direct and implement effective security measures to protect personnel, stakeholders, customers, information, and assets across all Blue Origin sites, programs and activities


    • Master’s Degree plus 5 year’s minimum experience in a senior level security role
    • 10-15 years of progressive responsible experience is security roles involving multiple security disciplines
    • Previous experience with managing budgets, generating Statements of Work, Request for Proposals, and negotiating with vendors
    • Outstanding communications skills with the ability to effectively communicate at all levels of the organization
    • Demonstrated commitment to lead personnel in education, training, and professional certification advancement
    • Previous experience or oversight in securing Windows and Linux-based architectures, and cloud environments (such as Azure or AWS), as well as recent experience in implementing high-level security strategies/policies for an organization; previous experience as a CPP, CISSP, and/or CISM
    • Understanding how to effectively assess business risks and the importance of protecting confidential and crucial data - structuring the security organization accordingly
    • Must be a U.S. citizen
    • Able to receive and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance


    • Active TS/SCI Clearance
    • Previous Aerospace or Government Security Experience
    • Additional security certifications such as PSP, PCI, ISP and/or specialized Information Security/Cybersecurity certifications
    • Active security certifications – CPP, CISSP and/or CISM
    • Experience with Intelligence Community (IC) and/or Department of Defense (DoD) facility security standards and requirements
    • Experience with Supply Chain Risk Management
    • Experience in managing ITAR programs
