  • Overview

    As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will be a hands on participant supporting Blue Origin’s launch vehicle and engine programs. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight.

    Responsibilities

    • Own detail and assembly level tubing through the manufacturing process which includes tube bending, orbital welding, fittings, passivation and precision cleaning.
    • Create and refine work instructions and work orders for tube assemblies.
    • Manage tubing inventory including requirements for purchasing, receiving inspection and traceability control.
    • Resolve manufacturing discrepancies for all owned processes by interfacing with the design engineering, production and quality teams.
    • Support day-to-day production of tube assemblies, high-pressure testing, welding, cleaning and inspections.
    • Identify, plan, and execute capital equipment, machine, and layout upgrades to the meet volume production demand.
    • Find and eliminate process waste, streamline production processes and enable continuous improvement.
    • Design, develop and build/procure tooling for aid in the manufacture of tube assemblies.
    • Position requires working directly with hardware on the floor for extended periods of time.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, manufacturing or aerospace engineering.
    • 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment (internship/co-op experience will be considered)
    • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

    Desired

    • Design for manufacturability and assembly.
    • Experience with tube bending and orbital tube welding.
    • Knowledge of principles of chemistry, engineering, fluid dynamics, mechanics of materials and nondestructive testing techniques.
    • Experience with capacity modeling, process mapping and fault analysis.
    • Pareto analysis, root cause and corrective action experience.
    • Experience with CAD and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) experience.
