  • Overview

    As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team of experts, passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will lead Systems Design Team responsible for defining and maintaining common processes, standards and tools that enable efficient design synthesis throughout the product lifecycle.   This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight.


    • Leadership and professional development of team members

    • Growing and maturing engineering organization via recruiting, hiring, and training new team members.

    • Support development and execution of project plans (including resource planning, management, and scheduling, and cost estimation) for Engineering Center of Excellence throughout the product development lifecycle.

    • Leadership and technical guidance for systems design approaches, best practices, automation and lessons learned throughout the product lifecycle.

    • Development and continuous improvement of engineering tools, best practices and design standards.

    • Leadership experience in one or more of the following areas: Engineering tools (CAD, Analysis, Manufacturing), Product Lifecycle Management, Enterprise Resource Planning or similar.


    • Minimum of a B.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace.

    • 10+ years of experience with the detail design of aerospace or equivalent systems materials and manufacturing processes.

    • Track record of successful identifying, establishing and providing the necessary tools, training, and strategic processes to enable high quality, efficient, design and development across the company.

    • Leadership record of proven process improvements (e.g., trade studies, process mapping, DMAIC, value stream mapping) and understanding of change management.

    • Develop and maintain a disciplined vision towards continuous improvement in all aspects of design and development.

    • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident (current Green Card holder).


    • Aircraft, spacecraft, or launch vehicle experience.

    • Experience leading and/or using Product Lifecycle Management tools and processes (PTC’s Windchill preferred)

    • Experience leading and/or using PTC Creo tools and teams.

    • Working knowledge of AS9100 or ISO 9001.

    • Working knowledge of ASME Y14.5, Y14.100 and Y14.41.

    • Experience with rapid development techniques for hardware.

    • Hands on experience with development labs and testing facilities.

    • Knowledge of systems engineering practices, fabrication and integration processes, and quality control.

    • Experience with optimization and DOE methods as applied to design, analysis, and testing.

    • Working knowledge of manufacturing methods, material selection, testing, and characterization & allowables development.
