    As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will be a part of a team that is building systems which deliver an incredible experience for our customers. These systems will allow our customers to send and receive data, manage their flights, and iterate faster on their experiments. Your users will be astronauts, researchers, satellite operators, and other customers that will fly missions with Blue.


    As a software engineer, you will be building systems that have never been built before and for which there is no blueprint. Your development work will include designing and building user interfaces, constructing backend services and APIs, and designing methods for storing and moving customer and mission related data. We want the software our customers interact with to be as beautiful, reliable, and easy to use as the rockets they will be flying on and you will be responsible for making that a reality.


    • Develop software to collect, process, and store customer data
    • Develop software to share mission related data with customers, including technical data (flight telemetry), personal data, and media (photos/videos)
    • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of engineers during all phases of design, development, and operation, up to and including the day of launch
    • Develop and manage system interfaces and infrastructure including APIs and databases
    • Architect large systems and services from the ground up
    • Mentor junior team members through coaching, code reviews, architecture reviews, and other technical feedback loops


    • B.S. degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related field
    • 5+ years of software development experience
    • A strong bias and intuition for good UI/UX design
    • Strong front end development skills, including HTML, CSS, and Javascript
    • Strong backend development skills, in a typed (Java, C) or untyped (Python, Javascript, Ruby) language
    •  Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum


    • Experience designing / developing products for the general public
    • Experience designing APIs
    • Experience designing and troubleshooting distributed applications
    • Familiarity with distributed systems and scalable architectures
