  • Overview

    As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will lead the effort to develop GNSS and inertial navigation software for various spaceflight systems. You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of design, integration, and qualification of high-integrity and safety-critical embedded software. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight.


    • Lead navigation software integration and qualification efforts to produce systems of sufficient quality for human flight.
    • Define requirements, then design, develop, and verify application and low-level software for safety-critical avionics.
    • Plan and manage end-to-end software integration testing.
    • Occasionally get hands on to implement changes in Simulink or C/C++.
    • Support navigation system architecture trades studies, analyses, performance characterization and specification, device selection, and controller roadmap direction.
    • Support navigation system risk analyses, failure modes effects and criticality analyses (FMECA), design for test/manufacture/cost (DFx), and root-cause analysis of test discrepancies.
    • Participate in program level technology development, mission assurance and safety initiatives, and avionics development process improvements.


    • B.S. degree in aeronautics, computer science, computer engineering or electrical engineering.
    • 5+ years of software development and integration experience in Simulink or C/C++
    • Demonstrated engineering leadership or mentoring experience.
    • Experience integrating embedded system software, firmware and hardware.
    • Excellent attention to detail and strong task ownership, someone who demonstrates pride in all work and willingness to perform low-level tasks when needed.
    • Strong written and oral communication skills.
    • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.


    • Graduate degree in related engineering or technical field with 10+ years of direct experience in embedded software development.
    • Exposure to designing safety or mission critical aerospace flight hardware compliant with DO-178C.
    • Advanced knowledge in designing, testing and flying aerospace navigation systems for rockets, missiles, spacecraft, and/or aerodynamic reentry systems.
    • Advanced knowledge in the development of navigation algorithms including mechanization, sensor compensation, state estimation, ground alignment and GPS measurement processing.
