  • Overview

    As part of a small, passionate, and accomplished team of experts, you will be responsible for the design of mechanical and fluids components for structural, mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems for advanced custom machine tool applications.  This position will directly impact the state of the art manufacturing processes necessary to deliver hardware for spaceflight applications.

    Responsibilities

    • Conceptual and detailed design of mechanical and fluids components and subsystems
    • Vendor selection and management
    • Support development of concepts of operations
    • Support configuration development and trade studies
    • Oversee fabrication, assembly, and installation of hardware
    • Provide technical guidance for hardware assembly and installation
    • Active involvement in functional checkouts and commisioning of equipment
    • Maintain and report out on activity schedule, budget, and technical status
    • Management and execution of emergent engineering change requests

    Qualifications

    • Undergraduate degree in engineering with at least five years of experience in mechanical and fluids design of machine tools or similar machinery
    • Strong experience using CAD, P&ID, and FEA based analysis software (Creo, AutoCAD P&ID, and ANSYS preferred)
    • Experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
    • Strong hands on mechanical assembly experience 
    • An attitude of world-class quality, attention to detail, and dedication
    • Strong written, personal, and computer skills.  Ability to communicate clearly and appropriately at the executive leadership level and on the shop floor
    • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident (current Green Card holder)

    Desired

    • Experience conducting HAZOPs, FMECAs, and/or risk assessments for machine tools or similar machinery
    • Experience in an R&D environment, preferably in machine tools, aerospace, or other engineered products
