  • Overview

    As part of a team, you will be responsible to create layouts, drawings, and configurations of ground support systems supporting the New Shepard Program. You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of design, analysis, assembly, testing and support of flight operations. Your passion for space vehicle support systems means you are committed to the necessary quality and attention to detail required to support human space flight. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight.


    • Design and maintenance of overall product definition by preparing design layouts, skeletons, and drawings, modifying existing drawings and developing overall packaging models
    • Generation of multiple packaging concepts for a given problem. Able to present options and communicate relevant trade details
    • Coordination of model assemblies from other groups. Responsible for creation and maintenance of final end item CAD models
    • Application of relevant industry techniques (design, drafting, parts) to plan, lay-out, and maintain data depicting engineering designs (detail, assembly and installation drawings or datasets)
    • Implementation of engineering and manufacturing best practices to achieve a balanced approach to cost, schedule and performance requirements
    • Support existing configuration standards for product structure, bill of materials, naming and organization of program data
    • Self-directed for prioritizing and scheduling work activity in support of team
    • Assist in the development and deployment of reasonable standards for drafting. Act as single point drafting standards checker for the team
    • Responsibilities will require occasional travel to the New Shepard launch facility in Van Horn, TX


    • 5+ years of recent experience designing/drafting steel and aluminum structural parts, components, or subsystems, utilizing CREO (or similar) software
    • Strong mechanical design and integration skills using Creo 2.0 or greater software
    • Experience managing large CAD assemblies and associated drawings
    • Experience with ASME Y14.100, Y14.5, Y14.41
    • Familiar with existing applicable drafting standards
    • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident (current Green Card holder)


    • Large scale model manipulation techniques
    • Ergonomic and human factors analysis
    • Designing for manufacturing and assembly
    • Launch vehicle or spacecraft structural systems experience
    • Experience with a PDM version control database
