  • Overview

    As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will perform day to day tactical purchasing functions for various spaceflight systems. You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of supplier communications, product pricing, and quality, and build schedule. You will demonstrate strong business acumen, written and verbal communication skills as well as adept problem solving ability. You will have the ability to exercise sound judgement in leveraging and implementing sourcing and procurement activities, including recommendations for alternative solutions that require you to meet program business priorities. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight.

    Responsibilities

    • Works closely with supplier management and program team to establish and maintain supply base of avionics electronics suppliers (PCBs, harnesses, components, assembly, and related services) in support of program procurement requirements.
    • Reviews requirements, prepares bid packages, manages RFx process, reviews proposals, negotiates prices and terms, and selects or recommends suppliers.
    • Works closely with supplier management, quality, and program team to evaluate, qualify, and manage the ongoing performance of direct program suppliers.
    • Works with supplier management and program team to identify and implement innovative supply chain strategies in support of program requirements.
    • Monitors and evaluates supplier delivery, quality, and business performance; conducting or participating in supplier business reviews, initiating supplier corrective action requests, and facilitating supplier performance actions.
    • Coordinates the procurement and timely delivery of goods and services to support program R&D, production, and flight operations requirements;
    • Enters purchase orders in Coupa procurement system; monitors order progress at supplier; expediting supplier as necessary to meet or improve delivery timing, approves payment, and maintains necessary records.
    • Works with program team to identify and procure long lead or critical materials.
    • Ensures the proper flow-down of purchase specifications, quality requirements, and customer requirements.
    • Leads cost reduction and supply base optimization initiatives for central Procurement organization focused on avionics electronics.
    • Evaluates current and potential suppliers with regard to financial health, capabilities, capacity, quality performance, and business alignment.
    • Ensures necessary supplier contractual documentation is established prior to engagement
    • Works with logistics team to ensure timely and economical deliveries of all materials to production location
    • Ensure that all requirements for purchasing, storage, and transportation of materials are adhered to
    • Resolves discrepancies related to purchasing, delivery, receiving, accounts payable invoices, and payment to the supplier
    • May occasionally perform or lead special projects; Perform other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    • Five-ten years procurement experience in a manufacturing or research and development environment.
    • Extensive knowledge and procurement experience with avionics electronics supply chain and process operations involving PCBs, harnesses, components, assembly, and related services.
    • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field.
    • Ability to work in a fast paced and changing environment to accomplish goals while managing multiple tasks
    • Strong skills in Microsoft Outlook and Windows programs (Excel, Word, Powerpoint)
    • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams, and independently
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Exceptional organizational and analytical skills
    • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

    Desired

    • Research and development procurement experience in a collaborative, fast paced, team environment
    • Experience with aerospace defense industry avionics electronics preferred
    • Experience with AS9100, ISO9001 supply base requirements
    • Experience with FAR/DFAR requirements and commercial programs
    • Experience with Coupa purchasing system and JIRA Atlassian software
    • APICS, CPM, CSCP certification or equivalent
