    As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will provide technical expertise and assist in implementation of all Environmental, Health and Safety programs at the Kent, WA site. Technical safety program areas include, but not limited to: explosives, cryogenics, lasers, robotics, process safety management, and radiation safety.  You must have a passion for continuous improvement of a safety culture and building agile safety processes.  You must have a passion for solving complex problems and providing operable solutions and be capable of acting with minimal direction on your initiative. You will be responsible for helping to maintain a corporate culture that emphasizes accountability, discipline, and attention to detail at all levels. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight.


    • Ensure compliance with local, state and federal safety, health, and environmental regulations at the Kent facility
    • Prepare and submit reports to federal and state regulatory agencies as required
    • Continually update and ensure compliance with the Blue Origin Health and Safety Manual
    • Create, update, and coordinate emergency response plans with state and local emergency planning committees
    • Indoctrinate new employees on our Safety Program
    • Manage hazardous waste activities for the Kent site
    • Manage the close call reporting process
    • Lead incident investigations to identify root causes and corrective actions
    • Develop, update, and deliver EHS training
    • Serve as site focal point for safety issues and concerns
    • Evaluate operations for continuous process improvement and implementation of preventive action measures
    • Supporting development of job hazard analyses
    • Provide subject matter expertise to engineering and production resources related to EHS
    • Perform periodic audits of our Safety Programs


    • Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering, chemistry, industrial hygiene, or occupational safety
    • 5 years in operational safety roles 
    • Knowledge of applicable safety and environmental regulations
    • Knowledge of process safety management methods 
    • Knowledge of close call reporting practices and processes
    • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.


    • 15+ years total work
    • 10 years in safety or environmental roles, including at least 3 years supervisory experience
    • 5 years in aerospace industry 
    • Competencies in high hazard operations, including pressure systems, chemical, electrical, and/or lasers
    • Knowledge of Washington State safety and environmental regulations
    • Associate Safety Professional or Certified Safety Professional certification
    • HAZMAT and/or emergency response team experience
