    Blue Origin is seeking a new member for our team to serve as a Payload Integration Engineer reporting to and accountable to the Payload Accommodations Operations Lead.  As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will be the point of contact with spacecraft manufacturer during the launch campaign for Mission Operations.  You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of Payload Integration.  You will be responsible for supporting spacecraft launch operations along with generating mission-unique documentation required for planning and approvals for processing.  The positon will involve coordination with Marketing and Customer Experience during the mission integration phase, and coordinating requirements with the launch site operations team.  Other responsibilities will initially include processing flight hardware, performing spacecraft mate & encapsulation, transport, mate to the launch vehicle, and integrated testing. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight.


    • Function as launch site focal point for spacecraft interface requirements (IRD, ICD, etc.) and validation planning for primary payload and secondary payloads (co-manifested payloads) while working with launch vehicle engineering for approval and implementation
    • Perform thorough technical assessments of proposed internal and external payload interface requirements to understand the impacts to the launch site
    • Function as launch site focal point to work spacecraft Range requirements, documentation, and the ground operations documents
    • Coordinate and conduct Ground Operations Working Group and Readiness Reviews
    • Act as subject matter expert and primary point of contact for spacecraft processing, transportation, and logistics at the launch site before and during the launch campaign
    • Manage/coordinate spacecraft daily processing & scheduling and provide inputs into daily schedule and integrated master schedule
    • Coordinate and schedule spacecraft manufacturer/provider launch site visits and technical interchange meetings, and act as the Launch Operations technical representative to during meetings, payload processing, and launch site processing.
    • Lead a small group of highly skilled technicians to perform payload processing activities in 100K (ISO-8) class or higher cleanroom, and assist with hands-on assembly, integration, and testing of payload accommodation flight hardware and customer spacecraft


    • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, physics, aerospace engineering or another related engineering discipline
    • A minimum of 3 years of specialized experience in payload integration and/or the development of payload integration requirements
    • Excellent oral, written, interpersonal, customer relation skills, and presentation skills are required
    • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident (current Green Card holder)
    • Current TS/SCI clearance or ability to successfully complete a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI)
    • Must be able to travel to other Blue Origin offices, alternate launch site, and customer facilities
    • Position requires: lifting (35-lbs), climbing, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, stretching, and carrying, and standing for extended periods (8 hours min.)
    • Must be able become certified to operate equipment such as aerial lifts, fork lifts, and overhead cranes
    • Must be able to work all shifts and available for overtime as well as weekends, when needed to support test or launch campaign timelines


    • Experience with developing and executing launch operations procedures
    • Experience with payload operations, integration, payload fairings, adapters, payload separation systems, spacecraft integration, matchmates (fit-checks)
    • Experience with project management / scheduling experience (MS Project, Primavera P6)
