As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will take responsibility for all aspects of the environmental, health, and safety of Blue Origin’s people and facilities at the Kent, WA site. You must have a passion for continuous improvement of a safety culture and building agile safety processes. You must have a passion for solving complex problems, providing operable solutions, and you must be capable of acting with minimal direction on your own initiative. You will be responsible for helping to maintain a corporate culture that emphasizes accountability, discipline, and attention to detail at all levels. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight.


  • Assist in the development of site specific environmental policies and procedures
  • Responsible for hazardous and non-hazardous waste management, including Department of Transportation (DOT) and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), conducting inspections, and maintaining records
  • Lead the operation of the Site’s Wastewater Treatment Plant
  • Perform environmental compliance and due diligence audits
  • Enforce Spill Prevention Control Countermeasures (SPCC) plan and Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan as required
  • Help with environmental reporting requirements as directed
  • Assist in the creation of job hazard analysis and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) assessments
  • Monitor employee exposure to job and chemical hazards
  • Conduct and/or coordinate employee safety and environmental training programs and assist with emergency response training drills


  • Associates degree or 5 years of experience in environmental regulation with an emphasis in Washington Environmental laws
  • Knowledge of specific Federal and State safety and environmental laws and regulations
  • 3 or more years of experience in health and safety disciplines; Aerospace experience is preferred
  • Experience in hazardous waste management
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident (current Green Card holder)


  • Washington Department of Ecology Group II Wastewater Treatment Operator Certification
  • General knowledge in interpreting, applying, and documenting federal, state, and local safety, transportation and environmental regulations 
  • Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook), Intermediate
  • General physical fitness is required for some work areas
  • Work performed in an environment requiring exposure to fumes, odors, and noise
