As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will take responsibility for all aspects of the environmental, health, and safety of Blue Origin’s people and facilities at the Kent, WA site. You must have a passion for continuous improvement of a safety culture and building agile safety processes. You must have a passion for solving complex problems, providing operable solutions, and you must be capable of acting with minimal direction on your own initiative. You will be responsible for helping to maintain a corporate culture that emphasizes accountability, discipline, and attention to detail at all levels. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight.


  • Provide environmental health and safety technical expertise on Process Safety Management (PSM), manufacturing systems, process design and operating procedures
  • Experience conducting HAZOP studies and process hazard analysis 
  • Assess and identify the workplace for the presence of health, safety and environmental concerns and make recommendations to control or eliminate those concerns
  • Prepare and submit reports to state and local regulatory agencies as required
  • Continually update and ensure compliance with the Blue Origin Health and Safety Manual
  • Create, update, and coordinate emergency response plans with state and local emergency planning committees
  • Indoctrinate new employees on our Safety Program
  • Manage hazardous waste activities for the Kent site
  • Lead incident investigations to identify root causes and corrective actions.
  • Evaluate operations for continuous process improvement and implementation of preventive action measures.
  • Support development of job hazard analyses and personal protective equipment certifications.
  • Provide subject matter expertise to engineering and production resources related to EHS
  • Evaluate the operations, equipment and practices for environmental health and safety regulatory compliance and with company standards


  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering, chemistry, industrial hygiene, or occupational safety
  • 3 years in operational aerospace roles
  • 5 years in safety or environmental engineering roles
  • Knowledge of applicable Washington state safety and environmental regulations
  • Knowledge of process safety management methods
  • Knowledge of close call reporting practices and processes
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident (current Green Card holder)


  • 8+ years total work
  • Experience in operational aerospace environment or oil and gas or chemical industry
  • HAZMAT and/or emergency response team experience
  • ASP, CSP, CIH, or CHMM certification
