  • Overview

    As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will be responsible for development and approval of Flight Termination Systems for various spaceflight systems. You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of the design, testing, regulatory approval and operation of launch vehicle Flight Termination Systems; across the entire product life-cycle (concept to launch), in a direct hands-on manner.  This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight.


    • Play a key role in the development of Autonomous Flight Safety Systems (AFSS) across the entire product life-cycle; including requirements definition, design, analysis, regulatory approval, and integration, test and mission support
    • Support electrical, mechanical, and software engineers developing components of the FTS
    • Serve as liaison with external regulatory agencies, including the FAA and Range Safety
    • Conduct analyses related to the operation, reliability, and safety of the Flight Termination System; including FMECAs, reliability and mechanical assessments
    • Create specifications and reports, including the Flight Termination System Report


    • BS in electrical, aerospace, mechanical, or computer engineering or a related field
    • 2+ years of experience with integration, testing, and analysis of aircraft, spacecraft, or launch vehicle systems
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team on rapid development programs
    • Experience with requirements development, verification, and tracking
    • Extraordinarily high judgment, energy, creativity, standards for yourself and others
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.


    • Post-graduate degree in an appropriate engineering discipline
    • 5+ years of experience with design, development, testing, and/or regulation of Flight Termination Systems
    • Experience with AFSPCMAN91-710, RCC319, RCC324 and 14 CFR Parts 431/415/ 417.
    • Experience with the qualification and acceptance testing of components to MIL-STD-1540 or related standards
    • Experience with systems engineering tools such as DOORS
    • Launch integration and operations experience
    • Experience with GPS and inertial navigation systems
    • Experience with the development of FTS mission rules for uncrewed and crewed flight
