    As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will be responsible for development and approval of Flight Termination Systems for various spaceflight systems. You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of all aspects of the design, testing and flight operations of launch vehicle Flight Termination Systems.  This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight.


    • Play a key role in the development of Autonomous Flight Safety Systems (AFSS) across the entire product life-cycle; including requirements definition, design, analysis, regulatory approval, and integration, test and mission support
    • Lead integration of avionics and ordnance components
    • Lead in-house testing of mechanical and ordnance FTS components
    • Manage the dynamics environments for all FTS components
    • Manage the procurement and test of externally sourced components
    • Serve as liaison with external regulatory agencies, including the FAA and Range Safety
    • Conduct analyses related to the operation, reliability, and safety of the Flight Termination System; including ordnance reliability, timing, and vehicle breakup analyses


    • BS in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field
    • 2+ years of experience with integration, testing, and analysis of aircraft, spacecraft, or launch vehicle systems
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team on rapid development programs
    • Strong mechanical design and integration skills using 3D modeling tools (CREO preferred).
    • Extraordinarily high judgment, energy, creativity, standards for yourself and others
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Experience with requirements development, verification, and tracking
    • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.


    • Post-graduate degree in an appropriate engineering discipline
    • 5+ years of experience with design, development, testing, and/or regulation of Flight Termination Systems
    • Experience with the qualification and acceptance testing of components to MIL-STD-1540 or related standards
    • Experience with the design or integration of Safe and Arm Devices, Detonating Cord, and explosive charges on launch vehicles or other aerospace systems
    • Experience in structural FEA using ANSYS, NASTRAN or similar tools.
    • Experience with AFSPCMAN91-710, RCC319, and 14 CFR Parts 431/415/ 417.
    • Launch operations experience
